Final Website Template Theme

This is a sreenshot of the final Website Template with the blood Lawyers Logo. I think there is potential. We brainstormed a lot of ideas in terms of navigation.

VINCORP Mini Animation

Here is the animation, its not much, but it does show potential for interior development.

VINECORP Update

I've come to my conclusion of VINECORP, and i'm happy with the results. With the time constraints left, I wont have time to develop the inside of the model as much I would have liked but, I think it shows you the makings of a good environment along with the description I wrote up last year.

The Urban and Rural environments have yet to be modeled but, I would be happy to continuing developing these in the future. I am going to include another mini animation of VINECORP, with some sound. Here are the screenshots of development to the final render.

The Final Two weeks

The deadline for handing work to Tern is drawing closer... I still have some bits and pieces to finish off. Im still working on development fo the interface, and trying to have at least 2 sample models of The Cybrspace and Urban environments. If not for Tern (30th April), then for the project submission ( 10th May)

Here is another couple of screen shots of an interface idea showing considering the theme, and how content could be placed.

I'm Meeting again with Kirstie tomorow between 12 and 1. We need to have a meeting with Sarah to talk about how we could encorporate her final Blood Lawyers logo.

Interface meeting

kirstie and myself worked on brainstorming interface ideas, and have came to a conclusion for further development(4 hours), considering navigation and design. We have made some rough mock ups using flash, and will discuss these in Fridays meeting with the rest of the group(11am). I have emailed Sarah about coming up with a animated intro of the Blood Lawyers logo, and will consider our design theme surrounding the logo so the design will complement it. These are screenshots of my contribution. We are also goign to meet up next wednesday (1pm)

Tern Feedback

The main thing we want as a deliverable is a clearly ordered and well labelled bible to accompany the Blood Lawyers project. This should be laid out with descriptive elements - for instance, our character work for Aga alongside her character description. The various logo varieties and branding within the environment.

We need these laid out well, so they can be used as the companion to the selling page.

As far as the motion comic side. All we need here is your storyboards and one worked up scene from each. No need to animate them, unless you want to have a go and impress us.

At the moment, I think the one thing that really needs work is the Ach-aye-pad interface. I think the whole team should brainstorm this for a bit, and when it has been agreed on, get one of the more accomplished artists to work it up (okay if a couple of people want to try this - differences in style are good at this stage).

The same is important for the structures. Can you have them polished up a bit.

So, in short, your end product is a 'bible' that can be taken and read over by someone other than us and it will paint the world for them. We can assume they have some knowledge of the story - but that doesn't mean we can skip over the descriptives. We can also assume they have an idea of the direction we're taking in the Blood Lawyers (ie a different focus than than the book, and a story that runs in parallel that contains many of the same characters).

hope all that makes sense. I'm hoping to take the idea to the BBC in a couple of weeks, so your timeframe works well with mine. Think all the work has been great so far -obviously we've been working on a 'big' idea, which is why there's been so much fleshing out up front.

Give me a call / drop me an email if you need anything else,

Simon

Diary Continued/Tern Meeting

No update from Tern; We now need to decide what we are doing for individual submission of the project. I'm going to be continuing to work on Interface design concepts for the website, along with producing some Photoshop mock - ups. All the environment design concepts up till now will be refined, and 3D mock up's of my final ideas for the Cyberspace, Rural, VINECORP, and Urban environments for VINE will be built and hopefully textured. I will also show mini animation's of the camera moving through the environments with sound, as well as 3 final shots from my interpretation of the motion comic storyboard concepts, and finally all the concept work throughout the duration of the project. My journey of this project will be submitted in the form of a powerpoint, and this blog/diary. My best work will be mounted onto board for overall presentation.

The Slums

Here I wanted to capture the busy market place... while a dealer is selling an experience needle to a VINE junkie...

Aga Flashback

I have tried to capture the idea of Aga looking into hr husband's kist in her flashback while talking to Palo at the bar...

Storyboard Still's - Bad/Good / transition

Motion comic 3 X concept storyboards(rough)

these are storyboards of the three rough motion comic ideas asked for in last fridays email. the meeting today was good, and we have quite a few ideas to choose from. Now we are all going to come up with a polished frame that captures each concept for the big meeting with Matthew Fitt next friday.

Transition/Good/bad trip

palo and Aga's meeting at the bar followed by aga's flashback

The slums (market dealing to VINE junkies included)

The idea I have for this, is that each individual once hooked onto the machine will transfer different heart rates depending on the frame of your mind and the combination of whether you bought a dodgy needle or a good needle.. good/bad trip will start at the same point... and tried to show the jacking in/transition... the feeling of getting sucked in through a portal with either bad, or good memories coming towards u from a 1st person perspective...I had a couple of ideas that could interesting.. like the character hovering onto the ground after the transition with wings for the good trip, and a hell theme for bad trip showing the character falling out the mouth of a large skull, with whisps of black smoke visable and fall smack onto the ground.. this picking up from a couple of ideas Brian spoke about last week. My final image from this concept will include colour to further capture the concept. I also thought it would be good to capture an image of what VINE could look like after the jacking transition... I'm thinking a time shift effect. like diteriation of walls and structures for the bad trip. and a 'perfect' experience for the good trip. The Idea of having the heart meter whilst in game play would be interesting as well.

Sequence Two; Aga and palo at the bar and aga's flashback of her husband kisted;

The idea for this is pretty similar to other idea's for this sequence.. you first see palo at the bar.. a closeup shot of Palo and the barman, and Aga siting watching him from a table.. she goes over and they meet to talk about the case... Aga has a flashback.. and you see a shot of the medical centre before zooming ino Aga's husband's kist. the last shot is of Aga lookin down onto the kist with tears in her eyes. (from the perspectiveof the kist. I think this could be the image to represent the flashback a least.

Sequnce 3; The slums;

This sequence starts off showing the busy market place, before cuting to a closeup of a letter box.. (knock, knock!!) with a pair of gogley eyes staring out. He asks for the secret password (ooch aye ma needle man :)), and an exchange is made of the experiene needle, and closeup of sealing the deal follows with the police/bloodlawyers taking the dealer away in handcuffs.

Action Plan

In light of the most recent meeting with the folks from Tern and the team members who were present we have decided on a plan for the next two weeks - leading up to our meeting with Matthew Fitt.

We agreed that there was not enough time to produce three full storyboards in the time available.

Everyone should produce a storyboard idea for all three of the motion comic ideas. This way, rather than there only being 2 ideas to choose from for the likes of the Aga idea, we will be able to pick from a larger pool of say 6 or 7 ideas.

For Friday 19th March (next week)

Computer Artists and Vis Com students should each produce a three or four frame storyboard for each of the following concepts. If you have already done work on some or all of these ideas then by all means bring them along - just make sure they are at a standard that you are happy with. From all these story boards we will decide on one key frame for each concept that captures the essence of that sequence and will then proceed to produce a high quality version of those key frames to show to Matt Fitt.

Sound Students should start thinking about the kind of music/ soundscapes that could be used for each of these ideas.

Matt and myself shall look into producing the bible of all the work that has been done to date.

Vine

This motion comic represents the Good Trip/Bad Trip and could be Split Screen but does not neccessarily have to be.
Also include your interpretation of the transition between the Real World and Vine.

Corporate and Aga

This motion comic needs to highlight Aga's visit to her husband while he is in a kist.
Another one which includes Aga meeting Paolo in the elevator bar.

These can be treated as two seperate motion comics or you may decide to incorporate them into one sequence, for example Aga meeting Paolo in the bar, and has the flashback of visiting her husband, its up to you.

Slums

This motion comic should begin with street dealing to Vine 'junkies' but include the busy market street in the background then look at the Blood Lawyers and police at the criminal's door.

For Friday 26th March (the meeting with Fitt)

Here we should have three complete key frames with possible sound accomplament (to further support the mood of each frame) in order to show off a bit and hopefully generate some positive feedback!

cyberspace Concepts update

More concepts for cyberspace (VINE advertisment Environment) (6 hours spent)

Considering line, shape, colour, and scale. Also concentrating on the two point perspective at the moment, before moving onto the three point perspective to give me more scope for thinking about position and scale.

Rural Environment Concepts

This is the concept ideas for the rural environment. This is the holiday landmarks projection environment. All holiday destinations being contained here will help to simplify the idea for the VINE map, as there are a lot of other eleaments of VINE to think of.

Urban Environment concepts

This is some rough concepts for the urban environment to help me generate ideas for refinement.

Start of the cyberspace 3D mock - up

This is the beginning of the 3D mock of the cyberspace environment which is within the heart of VINE, and where your avatar self would choose your ideal holiday destination. Soon I hope to have it finished and textured (2 weeks) and then working with Sarah to place her posters/props within the environment.

Transition Concepts

These are some ideas of transition between the realworld and VINE, along with a map idea of VINE as a whole. I feel like I'm making progress in terms of the map, and forms more Idea's to refine down further into mock up models.
